Depending on which version of Windows client you have and whether you’re connecting in through RDP to a workstation or server, is how we must handle printers

Print Drivers

 

Windows 7 Client to Windows 7 Client

From what I have tested, the Remote Desktop Easy Print Driver doesn’t seem to work.

So:

1. Make sure you have the printer driver for your printers installed on your client machine
2. Make sure you have a print queue for the printer installed on your client machine (the Printer you see in Applications like File > Print)
3. Install the printer driver (not the Queue itself) on your Windows 7 machine to which you’re connecting

Windows 7 Client to 2008 R2 Terminal Server

Printers gets created (*)

Windows 7 to 2008 R2 Non-Terminal Server

Default printer got created (*)

Windows 7 to Windows 10 client

Printers gets created (*)

Windows 10 to 2008 R2 Terminal Server

Printers gets created (*)

Windows 10 to Server 2016 Non Terminal Server

Need to have printer drivers on both source and destination, and also have a print queue defined

Windows 8.1 to Windows 7 client

Need to have printer drivers on both source and destination, and also have a print queue defined
